Many Roman Catholics in Boston are beginning to support the church again financially after a drop-off in donations following the clergy sex scandal.
The Boston Archdiocese said it raised $10. 85 million in 2004 through its annual fund drive, an increase of more than $500,000 over the previous year.

I thought that you should all take a look at this...
But while total alumni giving rose 2 percent to $6. 7 billion, the percentage of alumni donating fell to 12. 8 percent, which has steadily dropped since it was 13.

Can any of you give me some advice about this?...
Kaplan said that may be because colleges are keeping better records and now simply have more alumni to target who figure into the calculation. But she said they may also be focused on securing larger donations from major donors rather than on getting a broad base of alumni in the habit of giving, even small amounts. If that's the case, the strategy could negatively affect future fund-raising.

I thought that this was awesome when I first read it...
Nearly 54,000 Catholics contributed, up about 20 percent from the year before.
Archbishop Sean O'Malley called it a "heartwarming sign" after three years of fallout from the scandal, which saw numerous priests defrocked.
However, the fund-raising campaign still fell far short of the $17 million the archdiocese raised before the scandal erupted in early 2002.
